Fire Safety Talk (Grades 3-8)

The Plainsboro Fire Company came back last week to speak to our Grades 3-8 students. This time, they talked about how to evaluate fire hazards and ways to prevent and react to those dangers (smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and escape plans). Students were also able to take an up-close look at a fire truck as well as all the equipment used by the department.

Lots of new books on our school library shelves!

Fundraising events and activities help us keep our shelves full of new books. Over the summer, we were able to add more than 250 new books to our library shelves! These new books allow our students access to the latest titles and the most up-to-date information on many topics. We are extremely grateful to the FASP Parents’ Association for their generous contribution to our libraries.

New musical instruments to support Music Curriculum

Music is a key component of every culture and serves as a way for people to connect with each other. Over the summer, we expanded our music program by acquiring new musical instruments for all our students in Maternelle, Elementary and Middle Schools.

With the generous support of the FASP-Parents’ Association, we purchased percussion sets, djembes, xylophones, keyboards and harps to develop and enhance the musical experience of all our students:

Bringing STEM to life in our classrooms

Robotics is a great way to get students excited about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and to engage them in complex, strategic problem-solving. It introduces students to concepts and skills that are needed for understanding the intelligent, highly interactive information-based technology of the future.

STEM hands-on learning tools

With the funds raised from its various activities, the FASP-Parents’ Association allocated funds to technology this year, which helped us purchase different hands-on learning tools for students from Preschool to Grade 8:

Cubetto is the friendly wooden robot that will teach young children the basics of computer programming through adventure and hands on play.  It’s a hands-on, screen-less coding system specifically designed for children ages 3 and up.

Bee-Bot is an exciting little robot designed for use by young children. This colorful, easy-to-operate, and friendly little robot is a perfect tool for teaching counting, sequencing, estimation, problem-solving, and just having fun!

Pro-Bot takes skills learned and honed with Bee-Bot to the next level. A turtle robot, cleverly disguised as a race car, Pro-Bot has Logo on board and offers students an enticing, engaging, and hands-on experience with Logo programming as well as robotic controls.
